Dimitri leaned against the French doors leading to the balcony and watched Trinity struggle to wake up. Every instinct in his body screamed at him to go to her but he knew she had to do this on her own.

Her hands flew to her head and she cried out as if in pain. Her eyes suddenly flew open, and she turned her head towards him. “Why have you brought me here? Why won’t you let me leave?”

Dimitri dug his claws into his forearms and refused to answer the demon.

Trinity’s body thrashed around on the bed, fighting the covers that held her down. “You dare to restrain me! I’ll have you locked up for kidnapping and attempted murder!”

‘Don’t answer her Dimi.’

‘It’s hard not to, maman. She needs my help.’

‘It’s not her and you know it. Don’t let the demon draw you into its trap.’

Dimitri took a step toward the bed and stopped when the door flew open. “Get away from her Dimi!”

“She needs me!”

The demon locked eyes with Morgan and shrieked, arching the back of the body it nested in. The room filled with the smell of rotten flesh and Trinity’s head turned back toward Dimitri. For an instant, he saw his mate in the depths of her eyes and he took another step in her direction.

The breath left his body and he tried to fight of the arm wrapped around his chest. “I need to help her papa! Please, let me help her!” Tears fell unchecked down his cheeks and he felt as if his heart were being shredded with each agonizing scream coming from the bed. “She needs me.” He buried his face in Tréan’s shoulder and tried to block out his mate’s cries for help.

Looking over his shoulder, Tréan caught Morgan’s attention. ‘He can’t be here any longer.’

‘Where?’

‘Anywhere but here.’

Morgan nodded and sent them from the room before turning back to face the demon. “I know you’re not really here. You’re using this body to be heard but you’re somewhere else, somewhere you think is safe.”

“Are you sure about that?”

Morgan sent her thoughts out to everyone in the house. ‘Get out of the house. Sasha, Makena, Autumn… I need you three to leave the property, especially you, Sasha.’

Morgan didn’t need to be connected to them to know when they left the house. Trinity’s body ceased it’s struggles, and her face contorted into a mask of rage. “Who are you?”

“Someone you shouldn’t have fucked with.” Morgan lifted her arms and began to draw energy into her body, preparing herself to fight the demon for Trinity.

“My Lady, you must stop!”

Morgan kept her focus on the bed and shook her head. “I have to end this now.”

Cayson stepped into Morgan’s line of sight and held his arms out in an attempt to shield Trinity’s body. “Listen to me. If you send this energy into her body, you will kill her. Do you want that? Do you really want to be the one to kill your son’s life mate?”

Morgan bared her teeth at him and growled.
